Houndstooth Cookies

So as you may know from one of my previous posts, my sister is a HUGE Alabama fan! I wanted to make her some houndstooth cookies for her birthday but I ran out of time and since I had just finished making 75 football cookies the houndstooth cookies were put off till later. In the meantime, I found a different icing recipe that dyes well so I thought I would try it especially for the color black and it turned out very well!

I mainly made these by piping on little squares onto the cookies and then dragging a toothpick across the cookie's icing to give it the houndstooth look.

Delta Gamma Cookies!

So today we had big/little reveal at the DG house. So I made some cookies in advance to celebrate the occasion with my big, grand big, twin... I really wanted to make cookies for the whole chapter but I ended up working all day Saturday so I could only make a smaller amount. I finished them at 2 a.m. rather than if I had made some for the whole chapter I probably would have finished them around 4 a.m.

I ran out of white icing & since it was already almost 1 I decided it was ok to be lazy and just be creative instead. So I figured out a way to still decorate without having ugly lines in the whole cookie from piping icing.

Fall Y'all!

Here are the Fall cookies all ready to be delivered! I love making these pumpkins. Making these cookies gets me excited for all the cookies I can't wait to make over the holidays!

I received this order for a birthday and they loved them!

I think the vines piped on the pumpkins give them a little extra something and so they aren't so boring.

Even though the high here was 89 degrees yesterday it's beginning to feel like fall every few days. Maybe soon it will be the perfect temperature, but until then will just be satisfied eating fall themed cookies.

Fall Break

So I was planning on baking up a storm over my fall break but things didn't work out; mainly due to work, running back & forth from home and school, working on our homecoming float, & getting sick. But I did get to spend some much needed time with my "babies".  I love getting to hang out with them. Rose is my baby and is 5 years old; she is a dachshund and I got her 3 years ago this month! It's hard to believe that I've had her that long! Peg is the family baby and is 9 or 10; she is a beagle/ sheltie/ border collie mix. We aren't 100% sure what breed or how old she is since she was a rescue. Peg is the big baby. Whenever Rose gets any attention she is right there to get some too. She is such a puppy and loves to play with her duck. Rose is a little piggie. She knows whenever there is someone in the kitchen, "noms" are highly likely to fall on the floor. She loves to eat! Whenever Peg finishes her food Rose checks Peg's bowl to see if there is anything left over and will lick Peg's bowl to get all the little "food particles" that Peg left in her bowl.

I love my babies very much & miss them all the time!!!

Happy Birthday Christian!

So my sisters birthday was last week and she is a HUGE Alabama fan, so I of course made her elephants. I was planning on trying a houndstooth pattern on some circles but didn't since I ran out of time. She used to not eat them after they were a day or two old but I figured out a trick to keep them softer then ever... the only downside is that they break easier but they taste even better than they did before (and they tasted really good before I made the change).

I would have put a little more detail on them but since it was almost midnight & I had to get back to the dorm that didn't really happen. I still like them though. The cutest elephants I've ever made and they were all gone the next day...

Pumpkin Cookies

I started with a basic pumpkin cookie cutter and took one of them and squished it. For explanation click here: http://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/blog/2012/09/the-great-pumpkin-cookie-makeover/

I flooded the cookies in sections to leave little indentions where the lines in the pumpkins should go.

My mom was kind enough to pipe on vines and leaves on the pumpkins to make them look not so plain.

Fall Cookies

I did a little "research" like I always do for pretty much any design of cookie I am new to (mainly lots and lots of pinterest) I came across some pumpkins I really liked but decided to add a little extra to them since they looked so plain without the vines.

I added brown to this white (although it doesn't really look like it probably due to the amazingly wonderful [sarcasm inserted here] camera I own ...  they were bright white in person and I have no clue how that happened, but they still turned out cute)

I think the vines on the pumpkins give them a little extra something.

I also tried a few other cute cookies I found as well, brush embroidery fall leaves & pies!

pumpkin pie

chocolate pie?

These did not turn out as well as I hoped but they still looked good and tasted even better!!!

HAPPY FALL!!!!!!
