Easter cookies

I was swamped the week of Easter with four orders, started a second job, and school coming to an end. I made these several weeks before Easter just for a little fun and experimentation. I got the inspiration from Pinterest and made up a few cookies and went from there.

These cute little chicks were for an order I had for their child's elementary school class. I fell in love with them and thought they were so adorable with their little bows and bow ties.

I also got the inspiration for these from Pinterest. Although, they did not turn out quite the way I expected I thought they were still cute and they tasted good anyway.

I made these for one of the order I received Easter week and was told to make whatever I wanted. I had a tulip cutter i bough last year that I have never gotten to use so I figured I would put it to work. My mom wanted to see some lambs so I threw a few in her order as well.

But what is Easter without macarons? I am becoming obsessed with making these but they are a pain to make even though they taste delicious. I figured why not make them a little festive and decorate then with the leftover icing I had from the cookies.

DG Milk and Cookies

In February my sorority held our first DG Milk and Cookies event. This was our spring philanthropy in order to raise money for Service for Sight (you can learn more about our philanthropy here). I was asked to make some cookies for the auction portion of the event as well as cookies for those who attended the event to eat.

I made some brush embroidery cookies, which are my favorites to make. When everything goes right they are really relaxing to make.

I made these cute chocolate chip cookies which were some of the cookies given out to those who purchased the event.

I also made these Star Wars cookies for the auction portion of the event.

Broadening my Horizons

About 2 weeks ago I finally made something I have been dying to try to make for a very long time...
MACAROONS!!!

This was probably the most successful pan I made since they had the least amount of cracked shells on them.

I filled them with a chocolate ganache which I made from Ghirardelli chips and it was delicious.

I had been researching the best way to make these since I heard they are not the easiest things to bake and I was surprised at how well they turned out. I found a 200 year old recipe on Pinterest that worked wonderfully. You can find it by going here: http://www.howtocookthat.net/public_html/easy-macaron-macaroon-recipe/

Catching Up

Since I moved back from Florida, almost 3 months ago, I'm back at school and still baking. There has been baking going on even though there have been infrequent posts. Life just seems to get busier and I don't think that will ever change.

I found out today that I can now officially sell cookies in Tennessee. I cannot sell them online or out of state since I bake from home in a kitchen that is not licensed or inspected. I have taken a course in proper food handling, which the state recommends those who sell from home take some type of course.

Anyway on to the cookies.

Some of the cookies which I have neglected posting... I made these snowflakes and ornaments in November as well as pumpkins and some Disney cookies. I can't find the pictures I took of the pumpkins and Disney cookies but I will do a more in depth search of my photos and try to upload them later.

On another cookie related topic, at Disney World some of the resorts make different things out of gingerbread.

There will be more cookies to come... these are not all of the cookies I have made within the past several months. Hopefully it won't take me 6 months to do so.
