Frozen

Yeah I know Frozen has been overdone I think by eveyone at this point. I did these in August and I am just now getting these up. I had a little extra icing a some spare time, which seems to be harder and harder to find now, and decided I would finally sit down and do some cookies just for fun. I only had 5 spare cookies so I knew I didnt want to make mistakes. I first drew them up and went from there.

Every layer has to dry for several hours if not overnight so these cookies were a painfully long process to complete. I sat for over five hours working on these and the end result was better than I expected.

I enjoyed creating Elsa. She was a bit easier to work on and I took time between stages to take pictures of her progression. Anna was a different story, I think I was getting tired and completely forgot to take pictures of her progression.

Braiding their har was probably the most fun I had doing these. I don't know why, maybe it was the thought of actually getting to braid something other than my own hair for the first time in my life.

The final touch was glitter. Glitter is my stumbling block. If I have glitter 9 times out of 10 I will use it. It's like Starbucks or Target... I just can't resist.

Bridal things

Since the summer started I've gotten quite a few cookie orders for all kinds of cookies wedding related. Now that many of my friends and friends of friends are getting engaged and married it had increased the amounts of orders I have gotten recently. It's keeping me busy, but I am enjoying having more time to make these.

Bachelorette cookies

Monogram cookies for a friend who was giving cookies to those she and her fiancé were asking to be in their wedding party.

Even though bridal cookies are becoming somewhat of a norm I like the detail work that goes into them. There is something about the detail work that I find relaxing 99% of the time. Bring on the weddings...

Summer cookies

Busy… that seems to be the norm. I am not really thinking that will change. Since changing jobs I am now extremely more flexible on time and I am finding I now have time to do things I have been putting off. I am now working in a bakery in midtown and am loving every second of it. I am finally able to be creative in a kitchen and not just in the cookie department.

Since my last post was from around Memorial day I guess I will get everyone up to speed on what I have been doing since.

Thanks a Buzz-illion

Bachelorette cookies for a friend of mine

These I just did for fun since I had ordered some PME tips and wanted to test them out. PME tips are great for fine lines and lacy piping. Wilton is great but there's something about a superfine line that Wilton tips just don't produce. Sorry that's the baking nerd coming out of me. But they produce such beautiful piping...

Flower girl cookies for a friend. She gave these to her flower girls when she asked them to be in her wedding. Such a cute idea.

More bachelorette cookies...

I also celebrated my 22 birthday which I made all the cookies for. People ask me why I make my own birthday cookies… I'm not really sure of the answer. Sometimes it's because I am a perfectionist and want them to look a certain way. Other times it's just because I want to try something new and experiment.

I also had the opportunity to make some cookies for a couple who told their family they were expecting. Of course they didn't know the gender yet so lots of colors was a must and I always love doing the pink and blue carriages, they are some of my favorites to make.

I finally did my first set of proposal cookies, I've been secretly been hoping to do some for a while now and finally got the chance.

Memorial Day Cookies

I got a good idea from a blog I follow, Sweet Sugar Belle, about putting jimmies sprinkles into the cookie dough to make the cookie a little more "fun" with a little color. There was a cookie auction at my church and the lady who won the auction asked me to make some cookies for some of the workers at the church before memorial day. I thought I would be fun to incorporate memorial day into the cookies since it was coming up the next week and I had come across some cookies on interest that I wanted to change up the design a little bit and just have some fun with the order.

I also got a few other ideas from pinterest and got creative in the designs as well.

I decided we needed a dessert for Memorial Day as well and since I was short on time I used a white cake box mix (yes I know… shame on me) but I added a little bit of this and that, some rum and real vanilla bean. Needless to say these were some of the best cupcakes I have ever had!
